Hello, my name is Amy Bagwell. I have always known that I wanted to work with children when I grew up. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree in education at Austin Peay State University. I have been teaching since 1997. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. I look forward to seeing my kids eyes light up when they figure out how to work a problem on their own. I am married to Tim Bagwell. He works for State Department of Tennessee. I have a son in middle school named Eli. He is such a joy. I love watching him learn to do new things. I always look forward to meeting a new group of students every year!! I strive to make every year, their best year ever.

• At the beginning of every week, your child will be bringing home a newsletter that will consist of the weeks activities and what they will be learning that week.  This way you can be aware of what your child is doing in class and what they will be bringing home. Another thing that will be coming home is your child's daily work. This will be put in the side of their folder that says Keep At Home.  The rules for our classroom will be as follows: 1.  Listen and Follow Directions the 1st Time 2. Raise Hand for Permission to Speak 3. Always Walk and Be Kind to Others 4. Keep Hands & Feet to Yourself 5. Clean Up After Yourself  I do expect my students to follow all of the rules at all times. If they are broken, then your child will move their clip down on our Clip Chart. Every student will start the day on “Ready to Learn.” The students have chances to move up to “Making Wise Choices” and “Outstanding Owl.” They can also move down to “Think about Making Wise Choices”, “Teacher’s Choice” and “Parent Contact.” I like the students being able to move up and down the chart during the day. If they mess up in the morning, they have the chance to move back up the chart by the end of the day. At the end of the day, the students will be rewarded (skittles, m&m’s, etc…) for where they are on the clip chart. If your child’s clip is still clipped down at the end of the day, I will write on Weekly Communication Page what happened during the day to cause them to move down.  It will be taken back and forth to school each and every day.  If I need to correspond with you, I will write a note on that day’s date.  I feel it is important that you be aware of their behavior each day. Young children need immediate attention to matters. If your child has not moved their clip below “Ready to Learn”, there will be a smiley face stamp for that day. Again if they moved down the chart, I will write why. Please sign the Communication Log each night. I will check each morning for your signature that indicates to me that you have seen the assignments and notes. It helps your child to know that their teacher and parents are communicating each day about what goes on in school. It holds both you and I accountable to your child. In closing, I expect each one of my students to come prepared to work and do their best.  I am looking forward to meeting all of you this year. If you ever need to meet with me, please feel free to call me here at school or you can email me at [email protected]. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know. Your child is special and you know more about how I can help them individually. We can only be successful if we work together for your child.
